CNDH takes part in meeting with SPT and NPM

The National Human Rights Council (CNDH), in its capacity as the National Mechanism for the Prevention of torture (MNP), participated, on June 17, 2020, in the first meeting with the members of the regional group of the Sub-Committee on Prevention of Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (SPT) and the National Mechanisms for the Prevention of Torture (NPM) in Africa.

Scheduled as part of the 41st online session of the SPT (from 15 to 19 June 2020), this meeting was an opportunity to share the nine African NPMs’ experiences relating to the actions and measures taken to fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.

On this occasion, Dr. Mohamed Benajiba, Coordinator of the Moroccan NPM declared that the Moroccan NPM team conducted field visits to places of deprivation of liberty.

To be noted that the CNDH, in its capacity as NPM, shared with the SPT, in April 2020, a note on measures taken by the CNDH/NPM of Morocco in response to the Advice of the SPT to States Parties and NPMs relating to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
