CCDH ANNUAL CALENDER 2011 CELEBRATES THE INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF FORESTS

The Advisory Council on Human Rights (CCDH) devoted the theme of its annual calendar to the Moroccan forests, to celebrate the International Year of Forests.

The United Nations General Assembly declared, in its resolution # 61/93, dated 20 December 2006, 2011 as the International Year of Forests, celebrating “forests for people”.

The calendar displays the most important forests in Morocco. It was realized with the support of the Office of the High Commissioner of Water, Forests and the Fight against Desertification, which provided the Council with the pictures of those forests.

The calendar presents the situation of ratification of the Kingdom of Morocco on the international human rights conventions, until December 2010. It indicates the international days as declared by the United Nations.

Third of the kind, CCDH Calendar 2011 is a means of documentation and advocacy and a way to encourage the Kingdom to adhere the system of international human rights law. The Council prepares an annual calendar each New Year to highlight the treaty practice of the Kingdom and its annual situation regarding the ratification of international human rights conventions.
